Privacy Policy

Last updated: 22 April 2025

We collect what we need to run the service and nothing more. We do not sell your data. We do not run ads. We do not build advertising profiles. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what control you have over it.

Questions? hello@snugs.io

1. Who we are

The company behind Snugs.

Snugs is operated by ArtCollection.io LLC. When this policy says “we,” “us,” or “our,” it means ArtCollection.io LLC.

2. What we collect

Only what is needed to provide the service.

Account information. When you sign up, we collect your email address and the password you choose. If you add a display name or avatar, we store those too.

Profile information. Groups may ask you to fill in custom profile fields (for example, your location or a short bio). This information is visible to other members of that group. You choose what to share.

Content you create. Posts, comments, chat messages, events, and any files you upload. This content is stored so we can display it to the people you share it with.

Usage data. We collect basic technical data to keep the service running: your IP address, browser type, device type, and pages you visit within Snugs. We use this for security, debugging, and understanding how the service is used in aggregate. We do not use this data for advertising or profiling.

3. What we do not collect

Things we deliberately avoid.

  • We do not track you across other websites.
  • We do not use third-party advertising trackers or pixels.
  • We do not collect your contacts, location history, or browsing history outside of Snugs.
  • We do not build advertising profiles about you.
  • We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. Full stop.

4. How we use your data

To run the service, communicate with you, and keep things secure.

We use your data to:

  • Provide and operate the service — display your posts, deliver your messages, run your events.
  • Authenticate you and keep your account secure.
  • Send you service-related emails (password resets, important account notices). We do not send marketing emails unless you opt in.
  • Monitor for abuse, spam, and security threats.
  • Understand how the service is used in aggregate, so we can improve it.

5. Who can see your data

Group members see what you post. We see what we need to run the service.

Other group members can see your display name, avatar, profile fields, posts, comments, chat messages, and event RSVPs within groups you belong to. The visibility depends on the group’s privacy settings.

Group admins can see member profiles, application responses, and moderation reports within their groups.

Us (the Snugs team) — we access your data only when necessary to operate the service, respond to support requests, or investigate abuse reports. We do not read your messages for fun.

6. Third-party services

Services we use to operate Snugs.

We use the following third-party services to provide Snugs:

  • Firebase (Google Cloud) — authentication, database, file storage, and server-side functions. Google processes data on our behalf under their data processing terms.
  • Netlify — hosting and content delivery. Netlify processes requests and may log IP addresses for security purposes.

We do not share your data with any other third parties, except where required by law.

7. Data storage and security

Where your data lives and how we protect it.

Your data is stored on servers operated by Google Cloud (Firebase) in the United States. We use industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, access controls, and regular security reviews.

No system is perfectly secure. If we ever discover a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you promptly and take steps to mitigate the impact.

8. Your rights

What you can ask us to do with your data.

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data. You can view your account information in your settings at any time.
  • Correct inaccurate data. You can update your profile and account details directly.
  • Delete your account and personal data. You can delete your account from your settings. We will remove your personal data from active systems. Some data may be retained in backups for a limited period.
  • Export your data. If you would like a copy of your data, email us and we will provide it in a reasonable format within 30 days.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@snugs.io.

9. Cookies

We use functional cookies only. No tracking cookies.

Snugs uses cookies and local storage strictly to keep you logged in and to remember your preferences. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics cookies.

10. Children

Snugs is not for children under 16.

Snugs is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child under 16 has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

11. Changes to this policy

We will tell you if anything important changes.

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make a material change to how we handle your data, we will notify you by email or by a notice within the service at least 30 days before the change takes effect. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page tells you when it was last revised.
